Hey everybody! I promise, I’m not trying to be a work-a-holic, but I’ve decided to open up ingero for web design projects again. This time, my husband, John, will have a more active role with the projects. I’ll keep up with most of the design work & managing the projects, while John carries out all of the HTML/CSS and construction.
Our focus will be on using the Wordpress platform as a content management tool with the option of a blog as a feature, not the main event. We can do lots of things with wordpress, even set up a shopping cart. Websites start for as low as $650 and can go upwards of $2,000 depending on what you want.
We’re going to work on changing some things around on the site to reflect some of the changes we are implementing as far as policy, pricing, services, etc is concerned… as well as a better solution for our portfolio. Until then, you can continue to use the Free Quote form to begin the process. Most of what is contained in our current site is still valid.
Recently completed projects: Zen Yarn Garden, Miss Conceptions
Not that I really have a large readership here or anything… but I am really hoping once some of my freelancing projects slow down I can spend more time publishing articles about web and graphic design, art, etc, here. I’ve never been able to focus on a blog for too long, but it’s always been something I have wanted to do. It usually boils down to time… and the shortage of it.
Maybe I will even finish the Choosing a Designer Series someday. And of course, a new design may be in order. Anyone who knows me and my history of websites, they know that I ignore it for months, redesign it, and then let it sit for a few years before touching it again. Case in point: once upon a time having a personal site was cool, before blogs were even a big thing. I had one for awhile, and it’s still sitting on the web somewhere with only spiders crawling it. Haven’t touched it since 2004. Probably never will. I always have grand designs that end up never being finished… like Creo Ingero for example.
Sooo, yeah, more commentary later, hopefully on something more interesting than my desire for 30 hour days ;)
Ingero is going to be changing direction a bit. For the time being, we aren’t accepting any new web design clients or other major projects — perhaps the occasional logo, business card, etc as time allows. There’s just a lot on our plate right now… and coming this March, John and I are getting married! I definitely don’t want to take off more than I can chew because this big day is coming up and I don’t need any additional stress right now.
As for the future, the scope of our purpose will change as that I am a career woman now, working at a design group in Florida. I will be raising my prices and accepting much less work than I have in the past to prevent working 16 hours a day — I just don’t need to do that to myself so I won’t. I will, however, work towards building my pre-fab collection as an affordable alternative for those with limited budgets. I also have a few other things up my sleeve, like I’m working on a new wedding invitation line that is going to be awesome.
Ingero is not dying, just changing focus to something… more of a hobby if you will. Don’t mistake this change to be reflected in my professionalism — I take your businesses very seriously — but I view this as the time out of work for me to have fun, so I’m going to do more of the things I enjoy that don’t take a large time commitment — in order to give you fast and consistent service that everyone has grown accustomed to here. I like making websites, but the truth is that there is just a lot of work involved, and I’d rather not put myself through that outside of work unless the pay is hard to refuse.
I also want to thank every one of my clients over the past two years. You all have helped me more than you can imagine, and I will say that without you I would not be where I am today. I do not regret any project — they have each taught me an invaluable lesson that I will have with me for the rest of my life.
The subjects/products advertised in comment spam is pretty interesting to me. I guess they try to get something that would appeal to the masses. So, I guess the mass is a small-endowed male with genital herpes that needs a new car, home, and the ability to spend their paycheck before they earn it.
Yeah, so this doesn’t have much to do about web design. Ah well.
As I more or less promised, here’s an update on the “vixen eyeshadow” pre-fab I was working on as an example for the design process.

As this is only the second revision, there is still more hashing to be done, I don’t think it’s quite “there” yet — but I do believe some improvements have been made. For one, I made the eyelashes thinner — they were definitely overpowering in the first version. I also removed the oval on both, and tried some new text treatments. Finally, I opted to make the black and white logo actually “grayscale” for a more subtle change… though it may be TOO subtle. I also made the eyes look as though they are gazing off in one direction, though I’m still playing with the highlights.
No huge post this time, nor is this my best work, but hopefully it will give you an idea of what to expect in the process and to not be discouraged if the first few things returned to you are not quite what you’re looking for.
